Grupo Gallegos, la comunidad Take Home Cannes Lions

Grupo Gallegos of Long Beach, Calif., and Miami-based la comunidad were the two U.S. Hispanic agencies winning creative awards at the 53rd Cannes Lions International advertising festival last week.
Grupo Gallegos took home a Bronze Lion in the film category for "Beard," a 30-second spot for Energizer in which a man’s beard grows by the minute forcing him to continuously use an electric razor. Another Energizer spot, "Mano Japonesa,” won Grupo Gallegos a Silver Lion at Cannes last year.
In the cyber category, la comunidad won a Bronze Lion for its campaign for Virgin Mobile, "No seas normal."
Seven TV spots crafted by U.S. Hispanic advertising agencies were shortlisted in the festival. Dallas-based shop Dieste Harmel & Partners had 30-second TV spots "Mini Mouth" and "Pinky Finger" for Budweiser and "Reality," a public service announcement for Ed Bosques Clinic for Easting Disorders on the short list for film. And La comunidad had "Give an M," for MTV, "Convertible Car" and "Office," both for Virgin Mobile, on the same short list. Conill Saatchi & Saatchi USA was in the press short list for "Color Markers," an ad for Procter & Gamble's Tide Instant Stain Remover.
