Marroquin Leaving McDonald's to Join Batanga
December 04, 2006

Rick Marroquin has resigned as head of Hispanic marketing for McDonald's and will join Batanga as chief marketing officer in 2007, sources told Marketing y Medios.

However, a statement released by Batanga shortly after Marketing y Medios posted the new appointment read: "As Batanga continues to grow and expand its reach with the lucrative Latino market, we are now in a position to more strategically market the Batanga brand and product portfolio. A number of qualified candidates have been considered for the position of chief marketing officer; Mr. Rick Marroquin is one of these talented individuals. No official announcement has been made regarding this position. We expect to make an official announcement on an appointment in January."

Marroquin was not available for comment on Monday, but sources at McDonald's confirmed that he will be leaving the company. He has been director of Hispanic marketing at McDonald’s for three years, and only last month was named one of Marketing y Medios’ 2006 Marketers of the Year.
