ESPN Deportes to Broadcast MLB All-Star Game on Radio, TV and Web

NEW YORK ESPN Deportes will provide extensive live broadcast coverage in Spanish of next week's Major League Baseball All-Star Game via radio, TV and the Web, the network has announced.

The Hispanic cable network's broadcast and online units will team up to showcase coverage from Yankee Stadium of baseball's midseason exhibition between the all-stars of the American League and the National League starting on Sunday (July 13).

ESPN Deportes TV network will begin the coverage July 13 with the 2008 Futures Game at 3 p.m. The event's commentator team includes: Ernesto Jerez, providing the play-by-play; former major league player Candy Maldonado; Carolina Guillen reporting from the field and providing in-game interviews from the World Team dugout with David Faitelson offering live online chats via ESPNDeportes.com throughout the televised broadcast, per the network.


"Beisbol Esta Noche" ("Baseball Tonight"), a live preview show hosted by baseball expert Luis Alfredo Alvarez and former major league player Carlos Baerga, will precede the State Farm sponsored Home Run Derby on Monday (July 14) at 7:30 p.m., with Baerga hosting a chat preview to the derby via ESPNDeportes.com at 1 p.m. and baseball expert Enrique Rojas hosting "Debate Beisbol" online at 7 p.m., per the network.

Beisbol enthusiasts can also follow the Home Run Derby live via ESPNDeportes.com's State Farm Home Run Derby tracker. During the derby, ESPN Deportes' Faitelson will be positioned at the left field loge announcer's spot, where he will host a live chat, per the network.

Also on Monday night, ESPN Deportes Radio will broadcast a special two-hour program, live from the All-Star Gala, featuring commentary, analysis, interviews with Latino players on this year's All-Star teams with wrap-around commentary, including Home Run Derby updates, according to the radio network.

ESPN Deportes' coverage will culminate with the live radio broadcast of the 79th MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday (July 15) at 8 p.m. via 26 affiliate stations nationwide. The game will be called by Hall of Fame pitcher Juan Marichal, who will provide analysis; Jaime Jarrin, Spanish-language radio announcer for the Los Angeles Dodgers, giving the play-by-play; and Eduardo Ortega, radio announcer for the San Diego Padres, with reports from the field, the network said.

ESPNDeportes.com will serve as the cable network's site for pre- and post All-Star Game coverage, including game video highlights and recaps of the home run derby and All-Star Game, photo galleries and an All-Star Game online chat with ESPN Deportes' Rojas on July 15 at 12 p.m.
