TeleFutura to Televise Presidential Debate

NEW YORK TeleFutura, a sister network of Univision, said today (Sept. 24) that it will provide live coverage in Spanish of the first presidential debate between Democratic candidate Sen. Barack Obama and Republican hopeful John McCain.
The network will televise the debate live nationwide from the campus of the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern. Univision anchor Edna Schmidt will host the TeleFutura broadcast from the network's studios in Miami.
Broadcast of the debate will be produced by Noticiero Univision as part of its "Destino 2008" election coverage.
TeleFutura is one of two broadcast networks that will carry the debate in Spanish.
V-me will broadcast "Participa 2008: Presidential Debate and Interactive Forum," a three-hour live telecast moderated by Jim Lehrer of PBS that will be simulcast in Spanish.
Following the debate, V-me will air an interactive forum in Spanish with a live studio audience from New York, hosted by anchor Jorge Gestoso. Viewers will be able to participate in the forum via emails, SMS text and online, per a press statement.
