September 26, 2008
By Della de Lafuente
NEW YORK ImpreMedia and MySpace said today (Sept. 26) that they have partnered again to provide live streaming and simultaneous Spanish translation of tonight's presidential debate and future presidential and vice presidential debates.
The first contest between Democratic candidate Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and Sen. John McCain of Arizona will be broadcast live online from the campus of the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. via ImpreMedia's Web portal Impre.com, its online Hispanic network and MyDebates.org starting at 9 p.m. Eastern.
MyDebates.org is an interactive site created by MySpace and the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) offering customized political issue scorecards, polling, national statistics and Web streaming as part of the presidential and vice presidential debate series, per the companies.
"Providing the Hispanic community with Spanish-language translation of the presidential debates in real-time is an important part of MyDebates.org," said Lee Brenner, director of MySpace Impact, in a statement. "We want to do everything possible to encourage Hispanic voters to participate in the elections in an informed manner."
